Roger Federer and Andy Roddick will fight for the Wimbledon crown for the third time in six years. This is also the first time since the abolition of the challenge round in 1922 that a player has reached five consecutive finals. Federer is also on the verge of creating a record if he wins the title. This will be a record fifteenth title. Roddick had a cake walk in the semifinals beating Tom Haas in straight sets. He has now won 18 consecutive matches on grass courts and his seventh final in a row. On the other hand Federer is now tied with Pete Sampras both having registered 14 grand slam titles and if he wins this year’s Wimbledon final will become the highest grand slam winner. This also marks the 20 grand slam final appearances for Federer. If Federer gains the title he would also regain the number one spot in the ranking which is currently held by Nadal. Rafael Nadal who was the champion last year missed this year tournament due to a knee injury. Federer feels that he is under lesser pressure this time as his arch rival is not playing the tournament and his fans are awaiting to see his new record
